Painting Pope Francis as an inquisitorial acolyte

I found an STL for Pope Francis and I thought he'd look funny as an inquisitorial agent. I got two printed by accident.

Printing and conversion

The model's left hand came out all messed up, due it being meant for a larger scale. Oh well, a spare chainsword did the trick.

Painting the industrial base

Basecoat Leadbelcher.

Paint some elements Tinny Tin, just to break up the silver.

Paint the entire base Nuln Oil. While still wet, paint Fuegan Orange into the deepest recesses.

Drybrush Chainmail Silver. I did this too agressively - leave a bit more shade visible.

We interrupt the painting of this base to announce the painting of the model itself! Most of it is Warm white cloth, hence the Wraithbone primer. I applied the highlights by drybrush. Then Shiny gold elements - the buttons are just a spot of Glorious Gold. Paint the skin Guilliman Flesh. It somehow came out alright - sickly pale. Finally, coat the chainsword casing Black Legion, to be highlighted later, and paint the teeth metallic, using the colors of the base.

With all the metals now done, paint some areas of the base Heavy Goldbrown.

Black Legion hazard stripes.

Highlight the Black, then Moon Yellow on the yellow parts.

If the robes wouldn't cover up most of the base, and if the striped areas were smaller, I'd consider sponging on Leadbelcher marks and highlighting them Chainmail Silver.

Grimdark Pope Francis painted! Ready to sanctify (make hole-y) stuff!

Finished!
