A random batch of Reaper Bones miniatures that I primed last using my airbrush. Instead of putting them away, I decided to slap on some paint. Some are slapchopped, others are fancy. A couple had a hydrophobic surface for some reason, so I spray varnished them.
Cow lady
She's a minotaur but I really wanted to paint a Holstein cow for some reason. Prime her white. I started by blocking in the metallics. Paint the flesh Soulblight Grey.
Look up the Holstein coloration online and paint Black Legion spots.
Drybrush everything Ghost Grey and white. I tried to go light around the spots but they got splodged over, so I darkened them down using Nuln Oil.
Just a few details of Light leather, Dark wood, Bone and metallic armor. But there's also a loincloth. I went for a dirty burgundy look.
Basecoat Sigvald Burgundy.
Coat Carroburg Crimson.
Coat a third Cygor Brown, then feather out.
Highlight Warlord Purple, then Pink Horror.
Dot the eyes Bloody Red. Woodland base.
Fire mage
Prime white. Unfortunately the surface became hydrophobic, so Contrast paints only worked after a dose of Munitorum Varnish.
Paint the flames by wet blending Iyanden Yellow, Gryph Hound Orange, then Blood Angels Red.
Take some shortcuts:
I improvised on the robe by painting it Ultramarine Blue, then shading Drakenhof Nightshade. Highlight with Ultramarine Blue, then mix in Electric Blue.
Gnoll shaman
Prime black as preparation for slapchop.
I looked up spotted hyenas and decided on a base skintone of Skeleton Horde, then Gore Grunta Fur spots and mane. Black Templar nose.
Wood, bone and leathers as normal. To contrast with all the browns, I painted his tunic Ultramarine Blue. I also added spots of color with Blood Angels Red and Ork Flesh on the fetishes.
Paint some metallics - the belt buckle, knuckleduster, spike.
Add the final details by hand. Dot the eyes Bloody Red. Pick out the teeth in Bonewhite.
Painting a naga/marilith
Again taking inspiration from Heroes 3, follow these steps.
Except that the surface became hydrophobic, so I basecoated the scales Scarlet Red.
Coating the scales Black Legion was almost fine by itself, but I did some highlights using Bloody Red. Everything else just like the 3d printed model.
Painting a snake lady
I already painted this mini once. I wanted them to match, so undercoat Leadbelcher.
But this time, the green spectrum. Militarum Green on the light scales, Creed Camo on the dark scales.
Dark Angels Green patterns.
Armor and sword the same as the other one.
Painting a Spectator
Or, at least, a small Beholder. Prime white. Paint the inside of the mouth Volupus Pink.
Coat the head Militarum Green, then Creed Camo.
Drybrush Dead Flesh.
Paint the horns as Bone. Same with the teeth. Pick out the tongue Blood Angels Red.
For the eye, I wanted something special. Follow the regular steps, but instead of the pupil, use dark blue to paint a large sclera. Use red to draw veins.
Then a lighter blue to draw the inside of the sclera. Finally, black for the pupil.
Painting Troglodytes
Nothing special here, just going for a bright fishy vibe. Their scales are actually Aeldari Emerald, but it looks like turqoise.
