Introduction
Back when I painted these guys in 2016, 32mm bases were not a thing. I decided to put them on bigger and higher bases, so they can stand eye-to-eye with the newer sculpts.
Scenic bases
I have these elf-ish ruined statues from way back (no idea where they are from), and I thought they'd be perfect to illustrate the despoiling of worlds as done by the Word Bearers. They are also thick enough to provide a boost to their height, unlike most pieces from the Sector Imperialis. Start by gluing the pieces to the bases and drilling everything for future pins. Fill out the bases with putty.
Painting
Paint the statues as marble.
Paint the rubble around as cobblestone and finish the rim.
Finishing
Spray varnish.
Re-drill the holes on the statues (some were filled up with glue) and mount the marines.
