Introduction
Local Escalation League, currently in the first phase of 500 points. I'm joining late but who cares. Let's have some fun! I threw together a mono Khorne list against a character heavy Genestealer Cult army.
Game 1
Daemons of Khorne, ready to rumble! Across, a set of ominous blips on the map.
Turn 1
A surprisingly effective shooting phase saw 30 Neophytes unload their autoguns into one squad of Flesh Hounds and obliterating them. Faced with such cowardice, the Skullmaster decided to advance laterally.
Turn 2
A less successful shooting phase still killed off a Hound and some Furies. But at this point, reality split and 28 Bloodletters (because of points) marched onto the battlefield.
The Fury flew through the wall, denying at least one squad's overwatch. Everything else charged in, annihilating Neophytes as well as the Primus hiding among them.
Turn 3
The Genestealer reserves then made their appearance. The Patriarch itself advanced upon the unwary Skullmaster...
... and tore him apart. Bloodletters were also dying in droves due to morale.
Turn 4
The daemons advanced upon their foe, and the battle became a grind...... which the genestealers ultimately won. Bloodletters just don't perform in a stalemate, without their extra attack on the charge. Morale also sucked all the way through the game.
Game 2
I proposed a challenge, and my opponent accepted... to face the Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster!
The genestealers fought admirably, but they only managed to take out the Flesh Hounds. The combined assault of 27 Bloodletters (due to points) appearing from the warp to support their Bloodthirster overwhelmed them. The Patriarch did take the monster down to 5 wounds, though, so there's a moral victory.
Aftermath
Daemons of Khorne are just silly on their own. They do one thing and they do it well, by which I mean the Bloodletter bomb can come in from reserves and kill one unit. Then die, horribly. But at least a Bloodthirster is viable in 500 points! By which I mean he absolutely wrecks face. He definitely won't be showing up at the end of phase event.
