Introduction
The last of the Reaper Miniatures large elementals, which gave me an idea to experiment with stone. I wanted to convey connection with nature, and fresh ground/stone, as opposed to old mossy slabs.
Original state
It was sprayed with a grey color, but Bones being Bones, it was all sticky. I gave it 3 coats of Munitorum Varnish, and the real work could begin.
Painting
Basecoat the stone in Cold Grey, and the earth in Charred Brown...
... so I could give it an overall Black wash.
The stone got the same tone as the Bone Dragon's base, while the earth progressed into dark brown.
Paint the dino skeleton as bone.
Basing and after-effects
Woodland base. For the experimentation part: also put flocking on the earth parts, and between some stones. I wanted to convey the feeling of stone and earth freshly ripped from the ground, so no moss, just live grass.
