We started the game right where we ended: in the middle of the road, next to two lizard corpses. Well, actually only one was a corpse. We carried them back up to the fortress, leaving Athosian behind to cover the tracks.
By the time we got up, the dwarves came out of the mine, having killed their two lizardmen overseers. We had a long talk, and they described how a dragon drove them out of their home (another mine, obviously). They want to kill the dragon; we also want to kill the dragon, and all the lizardmen, and we need them to repair our ship.We met halfway, and did everything their way. Shamil tried to intimidate them, but the game system lacks a proper intimidation mechanic, so he failed miserably. At least the dwarves did not turn on us...
After we struck a deal, Cahir and Biznard sat down to have a few drinks with the dwarves, while I took Shamil to look around the fortress. We discovered an armory, stored food, nothing exciting.
Time to interrogate our prisoner!
Plan A: I hijacked his feelings, making him feel for me what he felt for the dragon. He ran away. I stopped him with an invisible wall.
Plan B: torture. Athosian tied him up, and Shamil tried to wake him up with his knife. Cue fatal bleeding. We manage to staunch it by cauterizing the wound. We finally woke him up, then started discussing what to ask. Big mistake, as he gathered all his remaining strength and tried to chomp down on Shamil's neck. Good thing our assassin is well armored!
Plan B worked, sort of. We managed to find out that the dragon is huge (as large as a blue whale, so almost as large as Cahir's mum) and can use magic. We also get details about the patrols, which we promptly forget (see later). This took about 5 hours, and so we went on our way, to slay the dragon. 0 confidence by the way, but whatcha gonna do?
I had Biznard carry me while I took to the skies wearing my seagull familiar's skin, so at least we made it safely to the forests.
There Athosian took over watch, and she skillfully neutralized the traps we ran across. Of course, Shamil also had to roll, and he rolled a critical fail, making the assassin walk into some sort of contraption designed to alert the lizards to any fugitive slaves by making a huge noise.
Soon after, we spotted a lizardman scout. Cahir shouted "hello friend" just as Athosian let lose the first arrow, and Shamil ran up brandishing shortswords. This went about as well as you might imagine, with the lizard leading the two on a merry chase.
Just when they encircled the lizardman, he turned around... and 5 of his mates crawled out of the river and underbrush. By the time we got to the scene, both our friends were well tied up and being carried back...
