Painting one more Imperial Fist captain

Introduction

Veteran Sergeant Danicus, converted and fully painted!

Painting

Most of it follows the guide for Zsombicus. The first difference is that I employed Averland Sunset spray instead of basecoating the yellow by hand.

With the armor, joints, trim and purity seals painted as before, I moved on to more unique elements. Medium leather holster, light leather straps around the sword. Standard silver on the weapons, blue/green silver on the aquila.

I decided to switch up the color palette. Instead of yellow-purple-blue, I opted for yellow-red-purple. Still having the complementary colors, but not the same as for Zsombicus. Start with the red cloak. Then paint the plasma gun and power sword purple. I followed the exact same procedure as for the blue weapons, but with purple gradients: Heavy Purple, Hexed Lichen, 1:1 mix with Reaper Spectral White, then Spectral White.

Medium skintone for the face.

I painted the hair at the same time into a sandy blond color. Basecoat Leather Brown. Wash Reikland Fleshshade along with the face, then drybrush Leather Brown, then Filthy Brown.

Don't forget the eyes. Also the bionic eye lens with Waystone Green over Chainmail Silver.

The left shoulder bears the Imperial Fist chapter symbol - same as before.

The right shoulder has a laurel wreath - a combat distinction for some far away fought campaign.

First trace the semicircle (or, more accurately, 3/4 circle) with Biel-Tan Green. Then paint over and outline the leaves with Sick Green.

Highlight (or rather, lowlight) each leaf with Dark Green. This took about 3-4 layers. Then contour the leaves using Dead Flesh.

Then came a general yellow cleanup using Heavy Goldbrown and Sun Yellow. The picture above shows some slopping over around the leaves, and there were small red or silver spots here and there.

Finally, assemble the model in a suitably heroic pose.

Finished!
