Painting more D&D miniatures

Introduction

At the same time as the other batch of D&D miniatures, I painted these, but with a different approach. As they wear mostly metallic armor, I decided to start from a silver primer.

Metallics

I took inspiration from the painting tips, but I only did a basecoat, wash and a single highlight.

Spray Leadbelcher, then wash and highlight with Silver. I did the two on the left with Nuln Oil Gloss,  the half-orc on the right with regular Nuln Oil (to give a dirtier feel), and the elf with Coelia Greenshade, for a hint of magic throughout the armor.

Other details

There is medium and light skin, brown leather, white cloth... all with just a basecoat, wash and highlight, inspired by the painting tips. I tried to do things in parallel wherever possible.
  • Heavy Skintone, Reikland Fleshshade, Heavy Skintone
  • Elf Skintone, Reikland Fleshshade, Elf Skintone
  • Off White, Seraphim Sepia, Off White
  • Heavy Brown, Agrax Earthshade, Heavy Brown (for the wood)
  • Heavy Brown, Agrax Earthshade, Leather Brown (for the leather)

The only thing unusual here was the orc skin. Heavy Green, Biel-Tan Green, Scorpion Green worked surprisingly well, with the light green diluted from the wet palette.

Then, for some Contrast work. I coated the flying coat (?) of the air cultist with Aethermatic Blue, and did the fires of the fire cultist with Iyanden Yellow, then Gryph Hound Orange. A bit of metallic shine from underneath only adds to the effect.
