Dungeon of the Mad Mage: Klaabu and your mom as well

After a short rest (and just 3 adventurers, Zyn, Tari, and Okos being the generic icon), we proceeded to the next cavern room where we met a group of 4 Kuo-Toa quietly enjoying their meal of rotten fish. They were in bad shape, sickly and all. Okos decided to walk up and greet them, at which they grabbed fish bones and charged to attack. They did not even manage to hit once, so I yelled at them in Undercommon to cease the foolishness at once. They agreed that they are indeed fools, and took us to their leader.

The Kuo-Toa priest told us that they were driven out of their original home, but they are building a new god-effigy to animate (called "Klaabu"), which will help them re-conquer their village. It was quite scary looking, being made out of humanoid parts and debris. Now we didn't give two copper pieces about their plight, but we thought to skip the final fight by helping them instead. We gathered wood, giant spider legs, and a blade for their god to wield. At this they were properly delighted, and the statue was completed... except for a head. The priest thanked us for our contribution, and asked us to finish the job by giving over one of our heads. This cut right through my train of thoughts involving a new trade route with the Kuo-Toa and a new village under Zhentarim control in the Undermountain. I sighed, and gave one last try to convince the priest about bringing a head later. He did not accept my proposition for a late head[1] and we rolled for initiative.

I started combat with 0 patience and immediately summoned a Barlgura.

I moved away from the priest, but took an electric staff to the head and lost concentration on the demon. The priest then summoned Spirit Guardians (I failed my Counterspell) and yelled: "Klaabu comes to our help!" I yelled back: "Yeah, he and your mom as well!".

After this we quickly took them down, and killed the Barlgura as well for good measure.

Interestingly enough, the small fish folk did not join the combat. Neither did the rather large village comprising a population of... some, including children. We decided against genocide, as they had nothing of value on display.

We left and started flying downriver. While passing the village, I got hit by the smell of dead fish and puked into the water.[2]

Finally, my owl discovered a large enclosed lake hiding several large crab-like creatures, an otyugh-statue and our nemesis, the large white intelligent monster fish. We decided to retreat to the dark elf area for a long rest, and bring battle to the monster the following day. And also the following session.

[1]Hue hue hue.
[2]That was important to mention.
