Painting Lord Inquisitor Vader

"I find your lack of faith in the God Emperor disturbing!"

There was literally no other reason to paint this 3d printed miniature, other than saying the above quote during a game.

Preparation

Pin the miniature to an inquisition base. Prime black.

Painting

Paint the base first, to account for the drybrushing. Loosely follow the recipe here, but simplify the steps because most of the base is covered by the miniature.

Paint the black parts first: Shiny black armor and Black cloth.

Paint the rest of the details:

  • red pistol, "I" symbols and lightsaber: Bloody Red base, Reikland Fleshshade, Orange Fire
  • Cold white knee skulls
  • metallic chains and pistol parts
  • Shiny gold trim and hourglass, the interior was painted Silver, then I applied Aethermatic Blue
  • Painting scrolls and also the pages of the book
  • Painting purity seal wax
  • book cover: since most of it is covered by chains, Gore Grunta Fur then Agrax Earthshade, highlight Khaki
  • chest buttons: one red and one white, paint along with the other relevant details

After spray varnish, paint just the armor in two layers of gloss varnish.

Finished!
