Painting Pope Francis as an inquisitorial acolyte

I found an STL for Pope Francis and I thought he'd look funny as an inquisitorial agent. I got two printed by accident.

Converting and painting Inquisitor Torquemada Coteaz

Joining my line-up of inquisitors is Torquemada Coteaz! Of course like everybody else, I hate the new miniature. But I don't have a separate eagle. So let's get crafting.

Astra Militarum/Imperial Knights vs Adeptus Mechanicus/Eldar

We played another version of the Relic - the one where an infantry model can carry it around. I played Guard with the scions, and the Knights only had one Valiant. We faced Mechanicus built to handle infantry, and Eldar built to kill vehicles.

Team Imperium deployed first, so I infiltrated Sly Marbo directly on the relic. Take that.

Astra Militarum/Dark Angels vs Imperial Knights/Necrons

Mission: The Relic. As an action in the shooting phase, an infantry unit can search an objective. Roll a D6. On 1-5, remove this objective. On a 6, remove all other objectives. If not found, the last unsearched objective is automatically the Relic.

Deployment: Hammer and Anvil.

Teams: Team Imperium (Astra Militarum/Bridgehead Strikeforce and Dark Angels headed by the Lion) vs Team Robots (Imperial Knights and Necrons/Canoptek Court).

I really wanted for us to go second, but we had first turn. We hid and pulled back and let Team Robots come closer. They didn't, really, just the Wraith squad advancing on the bottom middle objective.

Free Folk vs Nights Watch, 21.05.2025

Just a quick batrep today, with me facing the Night's Watch for the first time. Spoiler: it did not go well.

Even though the first turn offered a nice outlook. I had 4 units and my zoo on the table against the Night's Watch's 3 (far back horsemen in reserves). I also took first turn, enabling me to take initiative with the reserves.

Painting commission fantasy miniatures

A batch of commission minis, just to break up the pace. I specifically asked only for already primed stuff, as it is too early in the year to break out the airbrush.

Astra Militarum vs Imperial Knights, 19.06.2025

For the second outing of the Tempestus Nuns, I used the same list as before. It went marginally better.

I used literally the same deployment tactics as before, with half the army in reserves. I got with going second again.

Painting elemental genies

A water and earth type genie, a.k.a. a marid and a dao, for Dungeon of the Mad Mage.

Painting a dragonne (liondrake)

A Nolzur's Marvelous pre-primed miniature which I bought purely because it looked interesting.

Painting 3d printed mummies

More undead for the dungeon. Painting inspired by the mummy.

Painting industrial bases

June review and July goals

I am revitalized.

Warhammer 40k is back at the forefront with occasional 2v2 team games. Such a breath of fresh air. Also can't wait for an Apocalypse event later this month.

Dungeon of the Mad Mage is again engaging, with custom side quests thrown in and a random session of roleplaying in Waterdeep.

Call of Cthulhu keeps me plugged in as well. I started using my miniatures to good effect. We just finished a chapter. Lucy escaped certain death by spending luck. I love everything about this.

All this should continue in the same vein during July.

Painting wise, I got a good chunk done. This includes a load of Warhammer stuff, like Tauroxes and random inquisition minis; D&D minis, either purposefully aimed at Dungeon of the Mad Mage, or randomly acquisitioned; and some commission works, although this should wind down during the summer. I am now once again ahead of schedule. Whew.

As for July, I will carry on with more Guard stuff. There's some artillery and other things to go. I will sprinkle in some more simpler D&D minis as well. Maybe do my own Free Folk by experimenting with slapchop variants.
