July review & August goals

Just as I had some fun at the beginning of the month with some Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar, real life hit and most hobby related activities took a pause. Except D&D, the unshakeable pillar of my sanity during difficult times.

August is looking good, although there will be some holidays taken, but I think that's for the better. Perhaps I will finally finish and showcase my surprise project. Maybe not, as I also plan on dipping my toes into completely alien territory by trying out LEDs in miniatures... stand by.

Painting Restless Zombies

Introduction

These giants zombies from the Magic the Gathering: Arena of the Planeswalkers board game have already seen action in D&D. I selected a Putrid Blight King skintone from a Warhammer TV video. They honestly look more like flesh golems than zombies; but I suppose that can work as well in the proper circumstances.

Dungeon of the Mad Mage: Interlude?

We got together in Skullport but the players just refused to actually do anything...

At least I got on my flying broom and explored the fortress under the cover of invisibility. The conclusion: we need reinforcements to take it. I also flew around to discover some sort of hungry murloc. I gave him food, and got a Cloak of the Manta Ray instead. Good talk. Still a more profitable session then running around after goblin children.

Painting a ghost

Introduction

Although this guy would have been fine painted with Contrast paints for the commission, I decided on experimenting on another ghostly color scheme.

D&D 5E one shot collection - Danger at Blire Manor, part 6 / Slave Pits of Quabus, part 1

We got back into the action right as the flames died down and the cellar was clear. Ulfgar was clearly still not happy about Dace's code of conduct, so he bellowed a challenge and charged in. Groot and Bernie just stood there bemused, as Wizzik tried to interpose himself, without success. Dace proceeded to crack the dwarf's pauldron with his greatblade, then knocked him out with a strike of the pommel. Ulfgar lost a tooth.[1]

Painting goblin fanatics

Introduction

I have an old painted goblin fanatic off eBay - it has already seen action. Now, I decided to paint his two companions to match his color scheme. On closer inspection, I also decided on upping that color scheme.
