Documenting the winding journey from beginning wargaming and PnP RPG-s, through low budget solutions, to a growing collection of painted miniatures and a veritable chronicle of games and campaigns.

Painting a large earth elemental
Introduction
The last of the Reaper Miniatures large elementals, which gave me an idea to experiment with stone. I wanted to convey connection with nature, and fresh ground/stone, as opposed to old mossy slabs.
Basing a large water elemental
Introduction
More experimentation with water effects on this translucent water elemental from Reaper Miniatures.Basing a large air elemental
An air elemental like this one, but transparent. Not much to do here, as the plastic is shiny even without a coat of gloss varnish. Add woodland base.
Working on large elementals
I received these guys as a long term loan to use in DnD. I can summon elementals... let's put them on the tabletop when needed. And let's make them look good, while we're at it.

Daemons of Khorne vs Imperial Fists, 2020.02.19
Introduction
Continuing with the local Escalation League, this time I introduce my campaign buddy to matched play.
Game 1
I used the same Khorne list, to go up against 500 points of Imperial Fists in Phobos armor. And 3 Suppressors. Yes, Shadowspear.
Turn 1
I ran up the board and hid as well as I could.
Daemons of Khorne vs Genestealer Cults, 2020.02.18
Introduction
Local Escalation League, currently in the first phase of 500 points. I'm joining late but who cares. Let's have some fun! I threw together a mono Khorne list against a character heavy Genestealer Cult army.
Game 1
Daemons of Khorne, ready to rumble! Across, a set of ominous blips on the map.

Painting lesser elementals
As I have mentioned before, our MAGUS group has gathered a host of elemental slaves. I initially only painted the glacier elemental - more of an excuse to blend and experiment with blue, really.
Later on, while randomly visiting, I painted a bit of the earth and fire elementals. I have now decided to finish the job. After all, they are part of the party!

Path to Glory: Khorne vs Gloomspite Gitz, 2020.02.13
Introduction
As his Bloodcrushers demolished the temple of hated Sigmar, the whirl of arcane energies tore at the fabric of reality. Arbra'Gax clawed his way back into this world. He lifted his runesword and cried out in triumph.
'May Khorne bless you with Surging Ferocity!'
The Bloodcrushers exulted in the favor shown, and the Bloodthirster howled with them. But the celebration ended early. The only prayer that Khorne favors is the shedding of blood, and Arbra'Gax would not be lax in his duty. He lifted his weapon in a two handed grip, runes blazing reddish light. He cut at the maelstrom of magics, and jumped into the opening portal. His daemons rushed after him. The sandy desert was but a distant memory as they surged out onto a green plain, near an identical temple they just left behind ruined.
Ahead, a warband of Gloomspite Gitz hollered in triumph, their boss cradling an arcane trinket in his arms. Arbra'Gax roared his challenge, and the battle was on.

Uprising on Mane Primus - Finale Story
Danicus looked around. Dead bodies were strewn everywhere, the rebel militia torn apart by bolter and las fire, hacked with combat blades. Two crumpled heaps of power armor showed the bodies of the heretic astartes. Alpha Squad, bruised and bloodied, limped into view. Danicus scanned the hallways one final time for any threats, then holstered his weapons. He nodded towards the scouts, showing more appreciation and gratitude than other men with a thousand words. And then he started barking orders again. The halls needed to be cleansed of the filth. The loyal palace guard, few as they were remaining, had to rally. Beta and Gamma squads were just returning from a mission. They would lead a sweep of the palace, rooting out remaining armed resistance. Alpha Squad could recuperate.
And then the vox chimed.
And then the vox chimed.
Uprising on Mane Primus - Epilogue
Argus stood on the viewport of the Sacrum Pugnus. He leaned on the rail, and fixed his sights on the closed plasteel barrier preventing him to gaze directly into the warp.
Mane Primus.
Argus sighed, and closed his eyes.
He delved into his memories of that world.
***
Argus stood at the entrance of the ruined hab-block, chainsword whirring in his hand. The towering monstrosity of a Chaos Terminator had its back to him. It flicked its chainfist at Boreas, who dodged, but not quite fast enough. The powered teeth bit into the scout. No longer in control of his jump, Boreas crashed into the wall, and slumped to the ground.

Path to Glory: Khorne vs Tzeentch
Battleplan: The Temple of Sigmar
Temple in the center, two statues of Sigmar as additional objectives.
Arbra'Gax on his Path to Glory
At first, there was nothing.
And then there was... something? A noise? A shout. A howl. An ululating cry.
Somebody rose from the water. No, it wasn't water. It was red, thick, and sticky. It smelled of copper. Somebody rose from it, fighting to raise his head above for a gulp of air. His arms flailed about, looking for a handhold.
His head rose. He blinked. He couldn't see. The howl filled his ears. He flailed more. His hands found something solid to grab unto. He pulled himself out of the blood.

February goals
January went by fast and I'm happy with the results. Although the blog doesn't show my actual progress: all my published articles were leftovers from last year, kept back because I did not wish to reveal them ahead of their time (such as Danicus, sitting on the shelf for 9 months).
I have not reached 100% of my initially proposed targets, but that's my own damn fault for changing the targets on the go. All the commission minis for MAGUS are done; as well as a good chunk of DnD stuff. But instead of painting my summonable skeletons, I did a few quick odd jobs, trying out the Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures line of pre-primed miniatures, and enhancing some large elementals (to be published soon), which were not part of my initial commission deal. And I switched scope a week earlier to start on:
Announcing February, the month of Khorne! Another Age of Sigmar: Path to Glory is upon me. I could have gone with Nurgle again, but that would be boring, so I opted for something else instead. I will not have a fully painted army for the first match, not by a longshot. I even abandoned my previous target to get some troops assembled for the first game. I expect a large chunk of grey plastic to hit the tabletop, including some options from a Wrath & Rapture boxset still sitting in its shrinkwrap...

M.A.G.U.S. - Dwarves and dragons
We started the game right where we ended: in the middle of the road, next to two lizard corpses. Well, actually only one was a corpse. We carried them back up to the fortress, leaving Athosian behind to cover the tracks.
